Case description

Topic: Robotics / Advanced Technologies Robotic eTEP with unilateral eTAR for abdominal wall hernia repair, surgical technique. Salaam Sadi, MD, T. Paul Singh, MD, FACS. Albany Medical Center Robotic eTEP is a novel technique to repair abdominal wall hernia. The optimal approach to perform this procedure has not been standardized. The eTEP procedure starts by inserting the robotic ports in the retro rectus space, dividing the medial portion of the posterior rectus sheath contribution to the linea alba, then crossing over to the contralateral retro-rectus space to create one large retro-rectus space. The transverse abdominis (TA) muscle is released by dividing the muscle and the fascia insertion just medial to the linea semilunaris, blunt dissection is performed between the TA and the transversalis fascia and peritoneum.
