Case description

This is a case of 39 years old female patient with BMI of 18,7 kg/m2 who suffers from severe idiopathic slow-transit constipation refractory to all lines of conservative treatment. Clinical picture and diagnostic work up including colon transit time, MSCT colonography, colonoscopy, anorectal manometry and balloon expulsion test indicated the diagnosis of colonic inertia. Acoording to current guidelines total colectomy with ileorectal anastomosis (IRA) represents the procedure of choice for this diagnosis. Surgery was scheduled and laparascopic total colectomy with IRA was performed.
