Case description

This video depicts the use of a Transanal Minimally Invasive Surgery (TAMIS) for resection of a T1 rectal cancer. The TAMIS technique is an alternative to Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery (TEM) for rectal polyps/tumors and can easily performed with standard laparoscopic instrumentation. A Single Incision (SILS) port was used for access, and a V-Loc suture was used to close the rectal defect.

The procedure shown here was performed by Dr. Martin Paul and Dr. Vivek Patil at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC.
