Case description

Revisional Surgery after Gastric Bypass is rare but is occasionally necessary. Indications for this include an ulcer that doesn't heal with maximal medical therapy, a stricture (narrowing of the stomach outlet) that does not respond to dilatation with endoscopic techniques, or weight regain. These revisions can typically be performed laparoscopically but the complication rate is slightly higher given the increased difficulty caused by the scar tissue from the original surgery. This procedure demonstrates removal a non-healing ulcer by removing the small bowel in which it is located and trimming the pouch so as not as much acid from the stomach will be produced in hopes of reducing the risk of recurrence.
