Case description

A 51 year-old male with rectal bleeding. The tumor was misdiagnosed as intestinal amebiasis, the patient received several treatments from a general practitioner. In our latitudes, amebiasis is a common cause of gastrointestinal symptoms, however, repeated treatment for amebiasis without digital recta examination and a full colonoscopy in patients over forty years, can lead to a misdiagnosed cancer.
