Case description

Aortic dissection occurs when the inner wall of the aorta is torn, which causes the blood to flow between the layers of an aortic wall, forcing the layers apart. Aortic dissection is a life-threatening situation and requires immediate medical attention. Type A means that the dissection occured in the ascending aorta. The following video presents a case of 59 year old female with hypertension, who was diagnosed with aortic dissection extending from the aortic root to the femoral vessels. During transport the patient suffered from a cardiac arrest. The video details, step by step, applied treatment and operative technique for dissection of ruptured aorta. Presented by Arie Blitz, MD.
