Case description

Atrioventricular valves, mitral and tricuspid, have an important role of preventing blood regurgitation and allowing the blood to flow only in one direction. Unfortunately many heart diseases involve valves, causing stenosis or insufficiency. The following video presents a short case presentation of a patient with endocarditis, which involved tricuspid valve and pacemaker leads.
The presentation is followed by an operative video detailing the steps in the performance of a tricuspid valve replacement for extensive endocarditis. In addition to removing the native tricuspid valve and the vegetations, also, the patient's preexisting infected pacemaker leads were removed and replaced with epicardial leads.
