The first surgical robot in Poland, installed in the Regional Specialized Hospital in Wroclaw, on December 3rd 2010, operates. So far, less than 50 operations were carried out. We are introducing you the removal of the prostate gland to treat cancer, which is especially dedicated to the use of the surgical robot (da Vinci). A new method of operation, developed by the surgical system da Vinci found application among growing number of surgeons around the world in the performance of prostatectomy and other urologic surgery. This minimally invasive approach using the latest advances in surgery and robotics, it is ideal for urological surgery, including prostatectomy, in which the final place of operation is not only difficult to obtain, but also surrounded by nerves affecting urinary control and sexual function. The surgeon has a better tool, to spare surrounding nerves, which may enhance both recovery experience and clinical outcomes. With the three dimensional video surveillance system, with 10 –fold magnification of the operated area, the surgeon can accurately perform the operation saving vascular and nerve bundles and sees precisely the separated tissue layers.
