Case description

This video shows robotic sacrocolpopexy for vaginal prolapse in 65 years old patient who went vaginal hysterectomy with failed concomittant cystocele repair. Severe prolapse may cause issues with urination (not able to empty completely), bowel movements (difficulty emptying bowel) and sexual function. Non surgical treatment includes the use of pessary. Surgical treatment may include sacrospinous fixation of the vagina to the sacrospinal ligament using non absorbable suture. Robotic assisted laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy may alternatively be performed to correct problems with vaginal prolapse. In essence the vagina is fixed to the sacrum (bone ligament) using mesh (non absorbable permanent screen) to hold the vagina in placed. Authors of this video: Dr. Ali Moinzadeh and Aurthur Mourtzinos MD.
