Case description

Video demonstrates technique of robotic assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy for a patient with an enlarged prostate, more specifically large median lobe during robotic radical prostatectomy. Anatomic relationship of the prostate to surrounding structures is highlighted. Steps of RALP up to nerve sparing noted: 1. Posterior dissection of the seminal vesicle and vas deferens; 2. Bladder neck preservation to maximize ditance to the ureteral orifice and minimize tension during anastomosis (includes lateral dissection of bladder neck); 3. Precise dissection of the bladder off the median lobe (under the lobe at bladder junction); 4. Use of median lobe suture for retraction; 5. Robust preservation of the urethra. Author: Dr Ali Moinzadeh.
