Case description

Video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) has become, in the last two decades, a revolution in the treatment of lung pathologies. Because its approach is less aggressive and involves peculiar geometrical features, the uniportal approach for VATS is enhancing its popularity and enlarging its spectrum of diseases, from simply diagnostic procedures to the treatment of lung cancer. As thoracic surgery techniques continue to evolve exponentially, we can see the emergence of new approaches in the aaesthetical and the perioperative management of these patients such as the non intubated and awake procedures.
In this video we show an uniportal VATS right lower lobectomy in a 83 year old male non intubated patient. The postoperative course of the patient was uneventful and he was discharged home on the 2nd postoperative day.
