Case description

I carefully disinfect the affected area to prevent infections and ensure a safe environment for the operation. Next, I make the first incision over the lesion. I use a scalpel with great precision to cut the affected tissue, starting with the most superficial area. At this stage, I must be extremely careful, as the tongue is a delicate part of the body and essential for vital functions such as speech and swallowing. My team hands me the necessary instruments so that the procedure continues smoothly. I proceed with the removal of the lesion, making sure each cut is as precise as possible. At this point, I am evaluating the depth of the lesion and deciding whether it's necessary to extend the resection to ensure all malignant tissue is removed.Once I have removed most of the lesion, I carefully check the wound margins to make sure no cancerous tissue remains. This is crucial to reduce the risk of recurrence. I begin to close the wound with sutures, working delicately to ensure everything is well sealed. Healing of the tongue is key to avoiding complications and promoting a quick recovery. Finally, I inspect the surgical area to ensure there is no excessive bleeding or other issues. Once everything is in order, I conclude the procedure. The patient will be monitored during recovery, and I will provide instructions to ensure postoperative care is followed correctly and complications are avoided.Luis Antonio Pacora Camargo. MD, PHD.
