Case description

After tonsils removal regardless which technique was used, the sloughs formation over the tonsillar bed is unavoidable. During the healing process an epithelial cell turnover occurs and will be replaced by normal mucosal epithelium in a matter of 1-2 weeks, in the majority of cases. What will enhance its clearance is the act of swallowing upon eating and drinking. This finding is to be expected so the patient should not be anxious. Moreover, the patients should be encouraged to have a special diet generally recommended after this type of surgery; e.g., ice-cream, puddings, broths, or liquid to semisolid foods in the early phase after surgery. The rule says: the better the patient eat, the faster the healing is going to follow!!!
