Case description

Floppiness of laryngeal cartilage which causes laryngeal obstruction during inspiration is called laryngomalacia - a condition concering the fact of immaturity of laryngeal skeleton. It can affect various cartilages - epiglottis, aryepiglottic folds and arytenoids. Infant's epiglottis with laryngomalacia is shown. We can obserbe epiglottic flip-flopping. Other cartilages are not affected. Epiglottoplasty was performed as a treatment - symptoms dissappeared.
