Case description

Bronchial wall constriction effect is presented in this particular case. It was caused by local irritation from touching its mucosal surface by endoscope tip. Incomplete (posteriorly deficient) cartilage rings are the skeleton of the tracheal wall and bronchus. Autonomic nervous system supplies the musculo-membranous portion. Stimulation of beta2-adrenergic receptors causes smooth muscle contraction and decrease of airway diameter followed by increase in the secretion of bronchial glands. Symbols: stars - bunching of posterior wall of the left main bronchus caused by smooth muscle contraction.
