Case description

A Keratoacanthoma is a benign, usually solitary, rapidly developing epithelial neoplasm that arises on the sun exposed areas of fair skinned, elderly individuals. These lesions are characterized by a firm dome-shaped nodule with skin coloured rolled edges and a central crater filled with keratin debris. These lesions clinically and histologically resemble a squamous cell carcinoma and because of this resemblance a biopsy is indicated.
