Case description

While the "ideal" nasal septum is located in the midline of the nasal cavity, most normal nasal septa deviate to a slight extent from the midline. Such minimal deviations generally do not interfere with airflow through the nose and should not be considered abnormal. Nasal septal deviations that are severe enough to affect nasal airflow are relatively common and usually involve the anterior half of the nasal septum [the quadrilateral cartilage].
