Case description

The state of vasodilatation [engorgement] and vasoconstriction of the erectile tissue of the inferior turbinate and of the nasal septal swell body normally alternates between the nasal cavities, i.e. as one side undergoes a vasodilatation, the other becomes Vasoconstricted. This is called "the nasal cycle". In this T2 weighted magnetic resonance imaging scan, note the bright areas which represent vasodilatation of the right inferior turbinate and nasal septum.
