Case description

This patient has a large essentially total perforation of the left tympanic membrane. One can view the structures of the middle ear clearly. Note in particular the long process the incus connected to the head of the stapes in the posterior superior quadrant [1 o'clock position]. The stapedial tendon be seen attaching to the neck of the stapes [2 o'clock position]. The mucosa of the middle ear clean and healthy.
