Case description

Mr. Ash Vasireddy a consultant orthopedic trauma surgeon at King's College Hospital, discusses the timing of orthopaedic surgery in bleeding patients. He covers topics such as basic principles of bleeding, response to injury, coagulation, resuscitation, damage control resuscitation, and surgery. Trauma physiology and inflammation play a vital role in the response of the body to trauma. Bleeding can be difficult to diagnose, and symptoms such as an increased pulse rate and decreased blood pressure may not be evident until the last minute. The level of bleeding and the amount of injury must be assessed to determine the appropriate treatment for patients.
