Case description

This video demonstration addresses arthroscopic sternoclavicular joint resection in a patient with sternoclavicular joint arthritis. The patient is positioned supine and the arthroscopic portals are placed. Debridement is performed to assist with visualization. Degenerative bone and prominences are removed. A bone cutter is introcuded into the joint and the decompression is completed. The degenerative inter-articular cartilage disc is immobilized and resected. Dynamic examination is performed to ensure adequate clearance. Any uneven surfaces are then addressed.

During post-op a sling is immediately applied for comfort. Early passive motion begins day 1. Active and active-assisted range of motion begins at week 1.

4 months after surgery, the patient returned to full activity without modification. One year post-operatively, ASES preoperative and postoperative scores improved significantly.
