Case description

This video describes a percutaneous technique for harvesting an all soft tissue quadriceps tendon graft for ACL reconstruction. The quadriceps tendon has been used as an autograft for many years with clinical outcome similar to both patella tendon and hamstring tendon grafts. However, it is only been used in approximately 2 % of all ACL reconstructions. This is secondary to the surgeons being uncertain about its anatomy, its predictability, as well as the proper and easy harvest technique. Due to studies performed in our lab, we have created a reliable way to predict the size of the graft, as well as the technique to harvest the graft to 1 to 2 cm incision.’ Video by John Xerogeanes, MD.
