Case description

Dr. Paul Siffri with the Steadman Hawkins Clnic of the Carolinas discusses knee arthroscopy and what patients can expect from the procedure. Knee arthroscopy is surgery that is done to check for problems, using a tiny camera to see inside the knee. Other medical instruments may also be inserted to repair the knee. It is the most common procedure performed in orthopedics annually. Before an arthroscopy patient should undergo a thorough examination. X rays and MRI can be of help. Several procedures can be performed like: meniscus and ligament injury treatment, repair of cartilage damage, cleaning of arthritis, removal of loose bodies and release of scar tissue. The video shows a quick walkthrough of basic knee joint anatomy and shows some fragments of the procedures mentioned above.
