Case description

Dr. Jason Folk with the Steadman Hawkins of the Carolinas talks about the hip scope and labral repair and the techniques he uses during surgery.

The doctor starts description of the surgery by explaining that the first shots were taken in the right hip. The camera is looking from back into the anterior triangle. The operator establishes an accessory portal, describes the difficulties connected with this manoeuvre. After that, a capsulotomy is performed to aid navigation because hip joint is very difficult to move around without it. After that a motorised shaver is introduced. It helps to get a better access and visualisation of the outer portion of the labrum and also up above the labrum towards the acetabulum. After doing all of the preparation a repair takes place. The process is shown and comes with rich commentary.
