Case description

Surgical technique video: I find using the subclavian vein (compared to internal jugular) an easier and more advantageous way for the placement of a port-a-cath. I've been practicing this technique for a few years and I found many practical and cosmetic advantages.

Advantages:

- Easy way for vein detection.

- No fancy equipments (Doppler) are needed.

- No neck incision (only thoracic one).

- No pneumothorax to be feared.

- No subcutaneous tunneling.

- No promenant port under the skin

- No neck discomfort (as in traditional technique).

- No risk of injuring vital structures in the neck.

- Shorter catheter (less complications).

It would be great to know your opinions and ideas about this.
