Case description

Surgical video case: the most common reason for injuring the bile duct is due to the misidentification of normal biliary anatomy. One of the technical errors include excess tenting of the cystic duct-common bile duct junction by too much traction on the gallbladder such that a clip used to secure the cystic duct grips the lateral wall of the bile duct, resulting in a lateral injury/ partial occlusion.
