Case description

Youssef proposed that a new and innovative way to break down and dissolve theamyloid protein, which is known to neither dissolve nor break down due to themolecular structure of amyloid. It consists of parallel beta sheets, which are supportedby strong hydrogen bonds between peptide chains. These bonds are responsible for theformation of insoluble fibrils. But it will do this through the hydrogen bonds that existbetween its molecules. It will do this through the first two steps The first is to changethe pH. An acidic environment (pH < 4): leads to the protonation of the amide groups, which weakens the hydrogen bonds and leads to the disintegration of the fibres. Thebasic environment (pH > 9): increases the removal of protons (Deprotonation), whichchanges the charge of proteins and affects the stability of the accumulations. Neutralpoint (pH ≈ 7.4): where amyloid is most stable due to the balance between electrostaticforces and hydrogen bonds. Therefore, the medium will be changed twice, the first timeacidic and the second time alkaline because acid weakens the hydrogen bonds andreduces their resistance to breaking. Then it is changed to an alkaline medium in orderto break and remove the hydrogen bonds. Then, ultrasound waves are used to generateacoustic cavitation, which results in microscopic bubbles that collapse with high energy, generating mechanical forces that help break up the protein clumps. Thus, the amyloidprotein is destroyed and dissolved. Therefore, many diseases will be treated, especiallyneurological ones, because this innovative therapeutic method will prevent thedestruction of nerve cells in many diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’ssyndrome, and it will also prevent the occurrence of organ failure such as the heart, kidneys, liver, and pancreas. Therefore, it is a unique method and a breakthrough in themedical field.
