An overview of acute aortic dissection with the presentation of cases. Chest X-rays, Echocardiograms (transoesophageal and transthoracic echo) and computed tomography (CT) of the aorta with intravenous contrast as well as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are presented here. A concise review of the etiology, diagnosis and management of acute aortic dissection follows. I would like to thank my colleagues Ioannis Dernellis and Lampros Lakkas for providing me images.
