Laparoscopic Completion Radical Cholecystectomy And Lymphadenectomy For T1b Gallbladder Cancer

Case description

Video shows laparoscopic liver resection-reduces the incidence post-operative pain, superficial wound infection and length of hospital stay. Case presentation: 61-year-old woman underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy for chronic cholecystitis; final pathology showed 2x1x0,5cm moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma of gallbladder (T1b); she had history of hysterectomy besides laparoscopic cholecystectomy.vPlan: laparoscopic completion cholecystectomy with hepatoduodenal lymphadenectomy. Results: total blood loss-50 cc, total operative time-220 minutes, hospital stay- 2 days. Final pathology: all margins are negative for malignancy ; 0/3 lymph nodes were positive for metastasis. Follow up: normal examination, no adjuvant therapy; CT scan at 6 months follow up showed no evidence of disease. Conclusion: laparoscopic radical cholecystectomy is safe and feasible in selected patients with gallbladder cancer. Knowledge of anatomy and advanced laparoscopic skills is needed to execute these procedures safely.
