Case description

Arteriovenous fistula is commonly performed between radial artery and cephalic vein in the distant part of forearm. It must take 3-6 weeks after forming the fistula, to start haemodialisis. During that time the fistula "matures" and the venous wall is strenghtened. Common complications of fistules are true aneurysms. Those aneurysms can last for years without any changes, but if the skin above fistula becomes ulcerated it is necessary to dissect the aneurysm to protect the patient from massive hemorrhage. The example of the dissected true aneurysm is shown on the picture above.
