- Biography
- I completed 9 years of dedicated training in Thoracic Surgery and I’m familiar with the whole spectrum of thoracic surgical interventions and clinical scenarios. I have been a cardio-pulmonary retrieval transplant fellow for 3 years and have experience in cardiac surgery, general surgery, liver and kidney transplantation.
Formal feedbacks from UK Consultant Thoracic Surgeons certify that I am an independent and safe operator in open and VATS lung resections including complex cases requiring bilobectomy, sleeve resection, intrapericardial pneumonectomy and also in a vast number of other procedures, such as chest wall resection/reconstruction, endobronchial stent insertion, sympathectomy, LVRS.
I recently introduced Uniportal VATS lobectomy technique at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, I have also exposure in DaVinci robot VATS thymectomy.
I was involved as investigator in an international randomised controlled trial - Inspire trial Ex-vivo Lung Perfusion Using the Organ Care System (OCS™), I worked in translational research projects with publications in major journals.
I participated in a trial on treatment of mesothelioma with trimodality approach, I have exposure to extra pleural pneumonectomies and pleurectomy/decortication technique and on the oncological management of mesothelioma.
I have an interest in management and service improvement, my most recent project improved the service for patients with malignant pleural effusion with a more efficient communication with the community services and the use of indwelling pleural catheters.
I regularly manage the new patients clinics independently and have often discussed cases at MDT on behalf of a Consultant with excellent feedbacks.
