Case description

In this video you can see renal anatomy and physiology. The kidneys perform many important functions, including filtering waste products out of the blood to be eliminated through urination, maintaining proper fluid balance in the body and regulating blood pressure. The kidney gets its blood supply from the renal artery which connects to a network of smaller blood vessels that branch out to all parts of the kidney. The blood delivers oxygen to the tissues of the kidney, which is essential for proper function. The cells of the kidney require oxygen to remain healthy and functional.
