Rhinolith are radiopaque and can be clearly seen on a CT scan. The radiolucent slit seen inside this large rhinolith identifies the location of the foreign body, which in this case was a plastic tiddlywink.
Rhinoliths may "grow" to a very large size. This was the rhinolith removed from the patient seen in the previous CT scan. Note the green plastic "tiddiywink", which was the nidus around...
