Case description

This video presents vocal nodules localized on the vocal folds of the larynx. They are bilateral and symmetrical swellings of the true vocal folds, emerging from its edge. They lesions are placed commonly at a meeting of the anterior 1/3 and posterior 2/3 of the membranous vocal folds. They are a consequence of phonotrauma ( voice misuse or overuse), which causes the fibrotic or callous thickening of the mucous membrane. This results in dysphonia and voice disturbances. Patients are suggested voice rest and appropraite use of voice in order to enable the resolution of nodules. Otherwise they may require microsurgical removal.
