Case description

In this video we can see the arytenoid vocal process which moves upon the phonation. The pyramidal-shaped arytenoid cartilage is situated on the superior surface of the cricoid cartilage on its supero-lateral aspect. Arching movements along the transverse axis of the articular facet are possible due to a saddle synovial joint. It is better to see this movement inferiorly by retrograde trans-tracheostomal or via a T-tube/fenestrated tracheostomy tube. It is worth to note as the vocal cords join, the vocal process moves medially and slightly tilts downwards.
