Case description

Median rhomboid glossitis has been considered a developmental abnormality for a number of years. Recent works suggests that this condition arises from a mild local candidal infection and that tongue clicking against the hard palate may also be a significant etiological factor. In this example, the typically smooth, red, diamond-shaped area located centrally in front of the circumvallate papillae can be seen.
