Case description

Acute swelling of the uvula may arise from trauma, as part of an allergic reaction, or as part of an infective process. In this patient a traumatic endotracheal intubation resulted in this swollen uvula. The patient experienced the sensation of a lump in the throat. The swelling resolved within 72 hours.
