Case description

Apthous stomatitis is characterized by recurrent "crops" of painful superficial ulcerations of the oral mucosa. The etiology of this condition remains unknown. These acute lesions are well demarcated with a yellow fibrin covered base surrounded by a red halo. The white an extremely uncomfortable ulcer on the lateral border of this tongue is in apthous ulcer. The characteristic erythematous around to the ulcer is clearly demonstrated. These lesions heal spontaneously leaving no visible evidence.
