Case description

A proper examination of the interior of the nasal cavity cannot generally be performed until he inferior turbinates have been vasoconstricted to allow visualization into the nasal cavity. Vasoconstriction can readily be achieved by the use of a topical decongestant nasal spray such as 0.1% xylometazoline hydrochloride nasal solution USP. This is the same inferior turbinate seen in the previous photograph approximately 10 minutes after the application of a topical nasal decongestants. Notice that the anterior face of the middle turbinate can now be seen posterosuperiorly.
