Case description

The external auditory canal ends at the tympanic membrane. The epithelium covering the lateral surface of the tympanic membrane is considered to be the tympanic portion of the external auditory canal. Note the oblique angle of the tympanic membrane in this dissection of the epithelium lining the bony external canal the adjacent lateral portion of the tympanic membrane.
