Case description

Chondrodermatis Nodularis Helicus Chronica is the formal name given to a discrete, firm, raised and frequently painful nodule located on the pinna. This nodule is most commonly located on the apex of the helix of the ear. Chondrodermatis Nodularis Helicus Chronica appears to be the result of solar damage to the underlying cartilage, which undergoes degeneration and extrusion through the skin. These lesions are exquisitely tender to the touch. Local excision of the overlying skin and underlying auricular cartilage is curative.
