Cauliflower Ear
Case description
Severe or repeated trauma to the auricle may produce areas of subperichondrial separation, shearing and localized hemorrhage which result in devitalization of the underlying auricular cartilage. This devitalization and its associated healing process may produce excessive subcutaneous fibrous tissue and scar formation which deforms the surface of the pinna.
