Case description

Following an acute otitis media, this patient developed a small cholesterol granuloma over the lenticular process of the Incus. Note the yellow and brown mass behind the tympanic membrane. A cholesterol granuloma is not a specific disease but a specific foreign body granulomatous response to cholesterol crystals which are frequently formed in the submucosal tissues of patients with chronic otitis media.
