If however the lumen becomes obstructed with cerumen, a conductive hearing loss will result. Also the extreme narrowing of the lumen will make access to the tympanic membrane and middle ear extremely difficult if not impossible. This type of stenosis usually occurs at the junction between the cartilaginous and bony external canal.
