Case description

Video shows dr. Pakzaban demonstating a lateral foraminotomy performed to resect a far lateral disc herniation. Lateral disc herniations are not so common as posterior or posterolateral ones and affect exiting nerve root more than transversing one. Lateral L3-4 disc herniation affects the L3 nerve root, while same posterolateral herniation compresses L4 nerve root. In the surgical technique lateral exposure is used to reveal neural foramen and liberate the exiting root.
