Endoscopy of the Brain - Brain Biopsy
Case description
Video presents dr. Pakzaban demonstrating an ednoscopic view of the third ventriculostomy and biopsy of the brain. An endoscope, which consists of fiberoptic camera and light source, enters the brain through a small aperture in the skull. It is navigated and used to complete particular tasks. In the case shown in the video, a perforation in the third ventricule floor is made with a use of an endoscope. It is performed in order to relieve hydrocephaly caused by a tumor. On the way out a brain tumor biopsy is accomplished.
