Case description

Facial trauma, also known as maxillofacial trauma, is a term to describe any physical trauma to the face. These usually involves soft tissue injuries. Injuries such as burns, lacerations and bruises, or fractures of the facial bones. In some cases, there maybe loss of function, or changes in the shape of facial structures due to facial trauma. This includes complex facial fractures, the fractures of the upper and lower jaws and the orbits surrounding the eyes. When fractures are suspected, a CT Scan is used for diagnosis. Sometimes, traumatic brain injury accompanies severe facial trauma. This case required a surgery.
