Case description

Objective: Laparoscopic uterus removal became a standard procedure in many disorders of the uterus. The aim of this study is to assess if laparocopic uterus removal, with 2 transumbilical ports and classical instruments, is an easily applicable intervention. Methods: The data were collected between October 2008 and January 2009. All patients qualified had a disorder of the uterus, but its size remained normal or small. In 30 examined cases transumbilical management was applicaple in 25 patients. Traditional tools (10 mm ports and 30-degree telescope) were utilized. Vessels were sealed and uterine was mobilized via vagina. Results: Following statistics were obtained: median patient age 47,7 year, mean BMI 29,4, an average procedure duration 72,5 min, convertion to the classical laparoscopy was applied in 16,6% of cases, hospitalization average duration-14 hours, dyspareuria appeared in 12% of all patients, no other complications were observed. Conclusions: Laparoscopic umbilical uterus removal is a good alternative for the classic laparoscopy, especially in case of small and medium size uterus.
