Case description

During laparoscopic cholecystectomy, if an unusual colonic distension is encountered, it is important to search for the underlying cause before proceeding with the operation, as it may indicate a significant pathology such as a malignant tumor or colonic obstruction. In this case, we carefully explored the abdomen to identify the cause. No evidence of tumor or obstruction was found. Instead, adhesions were noted around the sigmoid colon, most likely related to a cesarean section performed four months earlier. It was divided using bipolar diathermy. Then, the procedure was safely continued and laparoscopic cholecystectomy was completed.
