Case description

This video was part of the video loop during the SAGES 2020 Virtual Meeting. Topic: Hernia laparoscopic repair of a large right side diaphragmatic hernia. Tullavardhana Thawatchai, MD. Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, Srinakharinwirot University, Thailand. A 64 years old female presented with a symptom of chest discomfort and dyspnea for 3 months. The chest CT-scans demonstrated a defected size 8.3 cm. on the right side of the diaphragm with herniation of the small bowel into the thoracic cavity. Laparoscopic surgery was performed, the hernia defected was repaired by an intracorporeal suture technique combined with a buttress repair by the composite mesh. The operative time was 90 minutes without any intraoperative complication. The postoperative period was uneventful; the follow up CT scans at 2 months after surgery was not shown a recurrent hernia.
